In my freshman year of high school, I was on the cross-country team. My coach always used to say that the most important thing to remember about running was that the end of the race held as much importance as the beginning.
Last week, a friend of mine asked me how my day was.
“Busy, but productive,” I replied.
But what did that even mean? I suppose what I’d really meant was that all I did was work: I got to work early, worked through lunch, broke for dinner, and then proceeded to sign back online to wrap a few things up after that. And now that I think about it, I barely even moved.
Managing your email inbox can feel like playing a never-ending game of whack-a-mole. Just when you think you’ve gotten to inbox zero and start doing your little victory dance … up pop another email. And another one.
What’s worse, the sheer volume of email we get often exceeds the time we can afford to deal with it. This becomes a bigger issue when we let our guilt get the better of us — the guilt that comes with not responding right away, responding curtly, or not responding at all.
We’ve all heard over and over again about the poor quality of the air we breathe outdoors. But what about the air we breathe inside — especially in places where we spend hours upon hours a day, like our offices?
Research shows the quality of the air in our offices may be getting worse thanks to toxic chemicals in carpets and on furniture, poor ventilation, and employees not washing their hands.

This post isn’t for the person who wakes up each day holding a list of ideas that are going to shape the future of the world. This post isn’t for daydreamers or optimists.
Having an idea is one thing; executing on it is another entirely.
Ideas come to us in all shapes and sizes, in all levels of importance, and at all different times of day. Sometimes, we get inspired by something we read online and want to capture it and comment on it. Other times, we come up with an idea out of nowhere and want to jot it down, or say it out loud into our phones before we forget it.
Although we hear about the health benefits of regular exercise all the time, hectic schedules can make it seem impossible to fit workouts in. The prospect of packing a gym bag, trudging to your local gym, working out, showering, changing, and trudging back to where you came from takes an awful lot of time.
But you aren’t doing yourself any favors by disregarding your health.

You may not spend much time thinking about your posture when you’re getting work done at your desk each day, but it can have a significant long-term impact on your health.
Just think about how much time you spend at your desk. Often, you’ll be sitting or standing in the same position, hour after hour, day after day, week after week. If your position of choice is hunched over, or puts a strain on your neck, or means you type in a way that stresses out your wrists … then you’re might run into some health issues down the line.
“Am I spending too much time on this?”
For marketers, this isn’t an uncommon question to struggle with. And after questioning myself one too many times, I decided to conduct some research to determine how much time it takes the average marketer to complete a routine task like creating an email, building a list, organizing analytics, etc.
Work and a busy schedule can take a lot out of a person. Thankfully, the holidays are a great time to slow down, recharge, spend time seeing your loved ones, and do things you wouldn’t normally have time to do.
While it can be tempting to fill your holiday schedule with travel and funtivities, there is something to be said about making time to tackle some of the things that have been collecting dust in your mental backlog.
