What if My Spouse Doesn’t Think Positive?

grumpy spouse? you have more influence than you know. Have faith – while respecting his or her free agency.
I’ve had this question come in time and again about how much our thoughts can influence a situation if our spouse’s thoughts do not support our own. If we shouldn’t manipulate another person’s freedom to choose, how does this all work in a marriage if both parties are not on the same page?
Some people have a gift of strong faith, and others struggle more to develop it. If you have an easier time with faith than your spouse, it may… Read more

Strengthening the Pull of a Magnetic Personality

I’ve been in front of a few audiences over my lifetime, and yes, I’ve had that gut-wrenching feeling in the pit of my stomach as I anticipated speaking in front of all those strangers – even suffering with anxiety for days (sometimes weeks) before the event.
But I don’t feel that way about speaking anymore, thank heavens.
So what changed?
Well, there is that “getting used to it” thing. Do anything often enough and the anxiety can go away, eventually.  Even the most embarrassing of moments pale over time.
(Like the time I tried to be super clever in front… Read more

Funny Story – Someone Should Have Called the Cops on ME

when you don’t achieve the results you expect, “check the address”.
Some time ago I was in Utah with my husband and two of my kids for a conference, and while we were there, I needed to pick up some books from Garrett Gunderson, my co-author for Portal to Genius.
I love telling people about his book, Killing Sacred Cows, and needed some more to have on hand for my local events.
(Both books are very much worth reading, by the way…)
I texted Garrett while I was there, and since it was on a weekend and nobody was in… Read more

My Gift to You – How to RECEIVE

Positive Thinking Tip: God wants you to have more happiness than you can imagine. here’s how to increase your capacity to receive it.
A few years ago I had a troubling experience with one of my readers, (it was insane, actually – as you’ll soon find out) and through it, I learned a powerful life lesson on “how to receive”.  With the “spirit of giving” in mind, I’d like to talk to you about the piece that sometimes gets overlooked: your ability to receive what you ask for. It takes a certain amount of faith, and I’ll show you why…… Read more

When You Feel Confused and Don’t Know What To Do… Pick Your Picnic

“John, aren’t you going to put on your seatbelt?” “Why, are we going to get into a crash?” “No, but seatbelts save lives…” John retorted, “Seatbelts don’t save lives.” “Of course they do!” His friend explained, “Once, I was driving with my family and something told me to make sure everyone was wearing their seatbelts. So we all belted up, and just as we turned a corner, there was another vehicle coming at us in our lane. Even though it was a head-on collision, we all survived because of those seatbelts!” John was firm, “No, the seatbelts didn’t save your life, whatever told you to put them on saved your life.” A decade has passed since

“Perfectionism” and Prosperity

We live in a time when life comes at us faster than it ever has in the history of the world. We get stressed, overloaded, and overwhelmed. Under these pressures, it is hard to remain calm… the state of mind necessary to live in harmony with the laws of success. Often we get discouraged and lose faith, simply because we spend so much time beating ourselves up for our flaws. To qualify for the blessings you’re praying for requires a calm and confident state of mind. But when we’re disappointed in ourselves, it is tough to have faith. The problem is, so long as we’re not perfect, there’s always something to be disappointed about.

Things Undone

Positive Thinking Tip: Clear out the cobwebs of your life. it will be worth it. You’ll travel the rest of your journey much lighter, and you’ll definitely go much farther.
We feel happiest when we are on the grow, and striving for something more. Whether we are striving for better physical health, financial health, emotional health, or healthier relationships – it just feels good to improve.
And although we should certainly practice gratitude for all we already have, if we’re not also reaching for SOMEthing else, we stop growing and start decaying. There is no standing still.
But sometimes we… Read more

The Language of Faith

Positive Thinking Tip: Ask and ye shall receive – when you ask “right”
Learning to consciously apply success principles (such as the law of attraction) for a better life is just like learning a whole new language. At first, with every intention to communicate your desires perfectly, everyone makes mistakes. It’s happened to me: what was intended to communicate my desires clearly has often turned into something that I never intended at all.
But that’s okay… it’s part of the learning process.  Think about it:
Imagine going to a Spanish speaking country with nothing more than a rudimentary understanding of… Read more

Hope Like a Balloon

Positive Thinking Tip: buoyant thoughts do more than just help you feel good; they lift you above adversity like helium in a balloon.
Do you remember how magical your first helium balloon was?  When you were a child, were you astounded at its buoyancy?  Everything you knew fell downward… except that beautiful, shiny ball in the air.
As you got older, maybe you were like me and allowed it to be a commonplace phenomenon.
Still, every time I stop to think about it, my spirits are lifted as I watch its pull in the opposite direction of everything else around… Read more
