How many goals at a time?

One of my readers recently wrote: “I have a question. Can you have more than one goal at one time? Or is it too overwhelming for you and your mind?” That’s a really good question. Here are my ramblings on that: You can have as many goals as you want, but there should be an ultimate overall goal that steers the ship, and helps you determine all the other goals that you should set along the way. Before I talk about focusing on one versus juggling several, there are three things to consider: ~ What is my overall goal in life? ~ Do each of the smaller goals contribute to my overall prosperity goal? ~ Which goals must wait until

Prosperity Tip: “What if I Forget?”

“The solution to every problem is only an idea away.” — Portal to Genius
But what if you get the idea, and then forget what it was?
I was driving home one day and was pondering a really powerful “aha” moment. I thought, “Ooooh, I need to write that one down…” But by the time I could stop and commit the idea to paper, it was gone. It was one of those slippery fish that escaped before being speared by the pencil.
That really worried me, because every now and then I have a spark of inspiration that provides me… Read more

These Prosperity Laws Aren’t Working!

Here’s a question I received that I think is worth discussing. The reader said:
“Since reading the Jackrabbit Factor and feeling elated, it seems that our finances have gone down the tubes. I have not been able to pay bills on time, money is taking longer than usual to come in, we have bounced checks, etc. I know right now I am dwelling on the negative, but wondered why this is happening just at the time that I feel I have discovered the answer?”
Here’s my reply, somewhat modified:
When you’re aiming for big changes, it’s normal to face equally… Read more

Knotted Shoelaces

My oldest was probably only four years old when he showed me so proudly that he could tie his shoes. There they were, with the laces knotted together over and over until there was no more string left with which to work. How proud he was, and how I smiled. He had not tied them properly, but he had done his best and I was proud of him anyway.
Having tied the laces together in nearly twenty good knots on each shoe, I naturally had a little bit of an unplanned project ahead of me. Undoing what he had done… Read more

Unseen Help

there is unseen help. When your goal is detailed and clear, the help stays on task with maximum efficiency.
I love the idea that there is unseen help available when you set out to accomplish a difficult goal. However, there are things you must do, or you may never see EVIDENCE of that help.
I know you’ve probably heard this before, but one of those things is writing your goal down.
I thought I already understood this. In fact, I had been teaching seminars on that very concept for a decade. But then I learned a very expensive lesson.
In … Read more

The THOUGHTS That Count

If we could conduct a scientific experiment with all the variables perfectly controlled where two people with the same upbringing, with the same experiences, with the same DNA and everything else were thrown the very same challenge…
…their circumstances and results from that point on would be different from each other – depending on the thoughts they chose in the face of that challenge.
Now, I can’t prove it. But I know it’s true. I’ve seen a very real and strong connection between the thoughts I choose and the results I get.
So knowing this, I try to choose empowering… Read more

Why you should write your own eulogy today

Writing your eulogy while you’re still alive may seen kind of morbid, but actually, the earlier in your life you write your eulogy, the better.
What do you want people to say about you when you are gone? What would they say, or think, if you were to pass on tomorrow? Let’s operate on the assumption that you have a number of years left… at least 80 more ? … and project your mind ahead to what kind of person you COULD become in that much time.
What kind of a mark could you leave on this planet? How many… Read more

Heaven’s Help with Money Matters

Does life ever seem unfair?
Maybe you’ve dealt with more than your fair share of financial struggles. Perhaps you’ve had the feeling that your big break is just around the corner, but that corner never comes. Learn the seven laws that govern the flow of blessings you receive. The laws are like a kite string… and we are the kite. Without the string, we are tossed in the wind, and struggle to soar. But with an understanding of the laws, we can rise to remarkable heights.
As we learn the laws and live by them, we come to realize how… Read more

Strengthening the Pull of a Magnetic Personality

I’ve been in front of a few audiences over my lifetime, and yes, I’ve had that gut-wrenching feeling in the pit of my stomach as I anticipated speaking in front of all those strangers – even suffering with anxiety for days (sometimes weeks) before the event.
But I don’t feel that way about speaking anymore, thank heavens.
So what changed?
Well, there is that “getting used to it” thing. Do anything often enough and the anxiety can go away, eventually.  Even the most embarrassing of moments pale over time.
(Like the time I tried to be super clever in front… Read more

Funny Story – Someone Should Have Called the Cops on ME

when you don’t achieve the results you expect, “check the address”.
Some time ago I was in Utah with my husband and two of my kids for a conference, and while we were there, I needed to pick up some books from Garrett Gunderson, my co-author for Portal to Genius.
I love telling people about his book, Killing Sacred Cows, and needed some more to have on hand for my local events.
(Both books are very much worth reading, by the way…)
I texted Garrett while I was there, and since it was on a weekend and nobody was in… Read more

How Rude I Was (Or Was I?)

Prosperity is built on faith. It requires thinking truth in spite of appearances and making decisions based on the images of one’s dreams, over and above the state of perceived reality. The truth is that there is only abundance in this world. However, perceptions often get in the way of individuals being able to see that truth.
Let me share a recent experience to illustrate:
One Saturday night my husband and I returned home late from an event. As usual, we each went to our desks to check email one last time before hitting the sack. Coincidentally, his office was… Read more

Fake Optimism isn’t Necessary

When you begin to study the laws of success, it’s natural to conclude that you have to think optimistically at all times… But constant optimism isn’t necessary – it actually isn’t really even possible. Without an emotional dip now and then, you’d never know a good day when you had one. Even tough times contain benefits. Families across the world are scaling back and focusing on things that matter most like: Family, faith, hope… And if the economy necessitated this change, then even a bad economy is something to be grateful for. The world is full of illusions. Many people are being tested right now to see if they will cling to truth

My Gift to You – How to RECEIVE

Positive Thinking Tip: God wants you to have more happiness than you can imagine. here’s how to increase your capacity to receive it.
A few years ago I had a troubling experience with one of my readers, (it was insane, actually – as you’ll soon find out) and through it, I learned a powerful life lesson on “how to receive”.  With the “spirit of giving” in mind, I’d like to talk to you about the piece that sometimes gets overlooked: your ability to receive what you ask for. It takes a certain amount of faith, and I’ll show you why…… Read more

Genius Bootcamp Ticket Winner Announced

First of all, let me start by saying that we want to see ALL of you attend Genius Bootcamp!
Many thanks to each of you who expressed interest in attending December 3-5 this year.
Before I announce the winner, I want to share with you that the responses fell into a few different categories:
* Those who just sort of hoped for it
* Those who desperately needed it, and
* Those who claimed to deserve it
Our winner stood out because she didn’t really fall into any of these categories.
If you’d like to get a powerful new perspective… Read more

Applying the principles with wisdom

Success principles (including the law of attraction), activate a power that allows us to CO-create with God.
Co-creation (the power to cause things to happen with your faith) is similar to Pro-creation (the power to cause the creation of a baby) in that deep and enduring pain can result if the power is utilized at the wrong time, in the wrong place, or under the wrong circumstances.
I rarely hear any of the success gurus pause to share guidelines around the proper use of the power, because I’m convinced that most of them haven’t seen how a life can be… Read more

The Hardest Thing I’ve Ever Tried to Write

I’ve been pondering the following topic now for over a year, knowing that one day I would try to capture it in writing. But it’s a deep topic and I didn’t expect it to be an easy one, so it’s been pushed off many, many times.
It has not taken much to distract me from doing it.
(Squirrel!)

Today (June 28, 2015) I decided to get started, to at least begin gathering into one location the many epiphanies and personal notes I’ve been jotting down in the recent months.
I don’t really know where to begin, except to back up… Read more

Universe, or God?

Published by in category Life Lessons, Life Mastery | Leave a Comment

I received an interesting email that posed a really great question. I’ll share Arlene’s question and my response below:
Hi Leslie,
My name is Arlene, I am 72, LDS, and I live in West Bountiful, Utah. It’s been quite a while since I read the Jackrabbit Factor. I have been impressed with your honesty and forthrightness. I am writing with a question, but I want to give you some background. I have been interested in the Law of Attraction for many years and I have received a lot of e-mail newsletters with “helps” to manifesting. I have also bought and… Read more

Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should

I’ve taught classes and written articles many times about the importance of action in the goal-setting process or formula for success.
It’s still true: action is important. But this discussion is going to go a little differently.
This post isn’t about getting what you want; it’s more about how to ‘counsel your wants’, and why you’d want to.
I’ve been a goal setter for as long as I can remember, at least as far back as maybe age 12. This is why I experienced such tremendous depression in the early years of our marriage, because external circumstances seemed to have… Read more

Are You More Like a Radio or an IPOD?

Ugh. I used to be sooooo good at self-discipline before I got married and had kids. I could give myself a command and follow it – no problem. I even took great pride in my exemplary existence (cough, cough).
But everything changed when I became responsible to a bunch of other people outside of myself. No longer could I set a self-improvement goal to do this or that for so many minutes or hours a day… because frankly, the kid who needs to throw up simply isn’t interested in what your calendar has down for the present hour.
But there… Read more

When You Feel Confused and Don’t Know What To Do… Pick Your Picnic

“John, aren’t you going to put on your seatbelt?” “Why, are we going to get into a crash?” “No, but seatbelts save lives…” John retorted, “Seatbelts don’t save lives.” “Of course they do!” His friend explained, “Once, I was driving with my family and something told me to make sure everyone was wearing their seatbelts. So we all belted up, and just as we turned a corner, there was another vehicle coming at us in our lane. Even though it was a head-on collision, we all survived because of those seatbelts!” John was firm, “No, the seatbelts didn’t save your life, whatever told you to put them on saved your life.” A decade has passed since
